Upcycle Your Empty Candle Jars

Making candles means that I end up with lots of empty jars from all the wax, wick, and fragrance testing that gets done. I have what I like to call a "candle graveyard" where I put all the empty tester jars or jars from candles I've burned entirely.

So what do I do with them? Being the environmentally conscious lady that I try to be, I continue to test in them! I will simply clean out the jar, and use it to test other fragrances I am considering adding to the shop. These used jars don't get used for customer candles, but they come in super handy for my process!

To remove the wax and clean out the jars, simply stick it in the freeze for an hour and you should be able to scrape any wax right out, along with the wick. *If this doesn't work for you, you could put the jar in an inch of boiling water. Once the remaining wax melts down, you'll be abe to scrape the wick and wax right out! From there, wipe it down, then wash with warm water and soap!

What can you do with your empty jars if you are not making candles?

Here are some useful ways you can reuse your empty candles jars after your candles have burned:

1. Use it as a plant pot. Once the wax has been removed and the jar cleaned, simply add some soil, a cute plant, some love, and there you have it!

2. Hold makeup items. Use your jar to hold makeup brushes or smaller items like Q -Tips, cotton pads or cotton balls.

3. Use it to hold pens and pencils. Keep your workspace looking organized and aesthetically pleasing by storing pens, pencils, scissors, paper clips, pins or rubber bands in your used candle jar.

4. Hold dried herbs and spices. If you purchase loose leaf teas, dried herbs or spices, storing them in the glass jar with a lid will help them last much longer than in plastic bags. Also, it looks *cute.*

5. Store homemade food items such as jams, chia pudding, overnight oats, etc. I would recommend triple washing just to be safe, but I'm a little paranoid about this one 😆 I have seen many people use their jars this way with no issue, and even as drinking glasses!
